{thank goodness it's Saturday...}

One week down, fifty one to go...

The first week of the year is always a big one...getting back into a regular routine, swearing off indulgent foods, exercising....and if you live in the northern half of the country, dealing with winter.  I am totally fine with all of those things except for the last one.  I am not a snow bunny!

Take a look at our walk to school yesterday morning.

My son shouted from his stroller, "This is not OK Mommy!" the entire way to school.  He was right.  There was nothing okay about it...

Fortunately the snow has passed and has mostly melted for the moment. But since it still feels like the Arctic outside we are happily spending our weekend indoors and settling back into our usual rhythm...

California Dreaming

I can't get the beautiful scenery of Laguna Beach out of my head.  I am without a doubt an East Coast girl.  There is no doubt about it!  But I do love visiting my husband's mom on the west coast every year.  Besides having a wonderful mother-in-law (I feel so blessed to have her in my life), the weather is lovely, there is no humidity (good hair days abound!), and there is a beach at every turn.

I've been inspired by...

Silver things.  I generally like to work with warmer metals but recently I have been making a few things in silver and they are looking so fresh and light.  Here are a couple a recent pieces...

(BTW...If you ever see a piece that you would like better in a different metal color, do not hesitate to ask! Nearly everything I make can be made in gold, silver or rose gold.)

I'm excited excited about

The mountain of pearls that was delivered to my door this week.  Stay tuned for some pretty stuff!

I'm eating...

Bread Pudding and Russian Tea. I mentioned before Christmas that I had been suffering from a cold.  Somewhere between flying to and from California and starting the year off with freezing temperatures I have found myself right back in the middle of the same cold.  This weekend after a week of kale and spinach and all things green, I have decided to nurse my cold with two of the things that my mom used to make for me on cold winter weekends.  They are both so comforting and warm.

What do you make when you need to be comforted???  Share your recipes with me...I'd love to feature them on the blog!

A thought about the power of words...

Recently, someone--a very rude and hateful someone--has spent quite a lot of time bullying  a very special person in my life.  So much time that it makes me wonder if this person has enough time for regular meals, showers and a job.  Yes, this person is an adult, not a child, but as we all know, childish and immature behavior is not limited to people who are too young to vote.  Now, I am not the type of person that likes to air my dirty laundry, so I will keep the details to a minimum.  My blog is a place to share creativity, silliness and love.  It is not a place for complaining about people, places or things, and it's most definitely not a place to hurt others.  I believe very much in the power of words, and I also believe in the power of positive energy.  And I like to think that this little piece of cyber space is the perfect place to share that positive energy.  So instead of lashing back at this rather sad and pathetic person who is trying to fill the void in their empty, sad soul by attacking the people I love, I would like to ask all of you out there to spread a little positive energy and make someone feel special today.  Say hello to someone new, compliment your neighbor, or just smile!  My mother and father always taught me to retaliate with kindness, and I would love for all of you to help me squash this little angry gnat with a little extra kindness this weekend.  Maybe all of the happiness and love generated will create a bully's kryptonite, rendering this little bug's immaturity useless and its tune might be changed forever...

(And for that matter, it might work against all the other angry gnats in the world too!)

You never know.  I think it's worth a shot...

Happy weekend everyone...
