Season's greetings from crunchy town!
Well, the weather is officially stinky in these parts and it's time to pull out the big guns before all of my skin just flakes right off my body...
This rose infused body oil is super easy to make and is wonderfully moisturizing. Rose oil has long been used as a gentle softening ingredient for the skin, and it smells amazing as a bonus. Exact amounts are unnecessary for this little potion so determine how much of each ingredient you need based on the size of your jar. Choose the base oil that you like the most. Olive oil, almond or jojoba are popular choices...whatever you like will work. And make sure you use rose petals with plenty of fragrance so that your oil has a little rosy fragrance when you are finished. If your oil doesn't have much fragrance, don't worry...It will still work just as well!
Rose Oil
Dried Rose Petals
Olive, Jojoba, Almond or Avocado Oil
Glass Jar
Fill the glass jar 1/2 to 3/4 full with dried rose petals. (You can crush the petals to release more fragrance but it is not mandatory.)
Pour your preferred oil over the petals until the jar is almost full and cover it
Fill a sauce pan with a couple of inches of warm water and heat slowly over medium to low heat.
Gently the place the jar in the saucepan and allow to sit in the warm water for an hour or two. Be sure that the water remains warm but not hot. Too much heat can break down the oil.
Remove from heat and allow to cool. I like to let it sit overnight in a dark cabinet for a little extra infusion but it's not necessarry.
Once cool, strain the petals out of the infusion and your oil is ready to use!
Once you've made your oil, you can make this easy body oil that can be used in a variety of different ways. I'm not a perfumey kind of girl, so I like to use this subtle rose scented oil as an alternative to a traditional perfume.

Rose Infused Oil
Rosehip Oil
Rose Essential Oil
Combine the rose oil with a few drops of Rosehip Oil & Rose Essential Oil (as much or as little as you want, depending on your desired fragrance strength). Pour the oil mixture into a glass bottle with either a dropper or a spray top for easy application.
I use this oil as a moisturizer after showering or as a deep conditioning scalp treatment when my hair feels a little dry from the winter weather. It can also be used on chapped lips and cuticles or around the eye area as a moisturizing treatment. Plus it smells yummy and reminds me of my sweet little sister whose middle name is Rose. David John calls her "Rosthie" so now we have started calling it "Rosthie Oil" in honor his youngest aunt. Makes me smile every time I put it on...
{Hopefully your Rosthie Oil will make you smile too}
